I think that I mentioned before that my wife falls asleep almost immediately, but I have a tendency of lying awake thinking for some hours before dosing off. Well, that was certainly the case last night. Before bed, I watched some Youtube videos on Amazon eBook publishing. It is often the advice to publish multiple books at once and ideally in a series. In thinking back to the books I’ve written, I began to see that with just a few changed details, they could be a series.
This got my brain working, which was not particularly useful for my sleep, and is the reason for this post being later than usual. I’ve been working on Vril, the first book I wrote, getting it up to my present standards, but it actually makes more sense to work on The Slaying of the Bull first. As it took place in the 13th century, it makes the most sense being the first book in the series. It would set a path that covers almost 800 years, a broad timeframe but adds some importance to its theme. The series will have four books moving through The Great Lucado and resolving with A Land In-Between. Most of this story has already been written and should not take long getting things in order.
I am not sure why I didn’t see the connection before, but sometimes these things happen. There was a story there I was trying to tell, and it just wasn’t fitting into one book. The names were different, but the characters the same. It is a grandiose undertaking, and I might be a bit optimistic about how much work it will actually be, but I am committed to seeing it through.
Cheers!
