The Slaying of the Bull is complete

After a very productive and hectic few weeks, I’ve finished the story for the Slaying of the Bull (Book 1 of the Tocharian Gospels series). I completed the last chapter last night, and at first view, I am thrilled with how the story turned out. It is a worthy ending to this part of the epic and will segue nicely to the next book in the series. It is by no means done and ready to publish. There is still editing, and a final read through, but the story is done. You may have seen advertisements for the site Masterclass with storyteller Neil Gaiman, where he says something like the 2nd draft is your chance to make the reader feel you knew what you were doing from the beginning (not a direct quote). It is an epic truth. I’m cheating a bit, in that I am going back to a work that already went through several drafts, but I did add about ten new chapters to the book and changed the ending. Now, I need to make sure those additions slipped in flawlessly. This step in the process is my favorite. It is much less- I don’t want to say stressful, but intense than writing a story. I get to relax a bit, read my work, and add the little bits of spice that bring everything alive! The editing part is a bit tedious, but you put on some music and zone out into the text. All in all, things are moving along nicely, and I am basically on schedule. I wanted to finish the story by the end of April, and here we are.

Now is the time to join my launch squad! If your interested and have not already done so, be sure to reach out soon! I’d love your eyes and your feedback. You’ll get first access to the work before its published for free and be part of the writing process! I will also include those that help out (no matter how much that entails) in the acknowledgment section.

Don’t forget to check out the Island of Stone if you haven’t done so already. If you’ve read and enjoyed the story, leave an Amazon review, and feel free to share your feedback in the comments below, on Facebook, or here!

Cheers!

Scott Austin Tirrell loves dark speculative fiction, conjuring isolated worlds where ancient mysteries, the raw power of nature, and the paranormal entwine. His work is steeped in the arcane, drawing from the forgotten corners of history and the unsettling grasp of the supernatural. With a style shaped by Clive Barker, Frank Herbert, and Joe Abercrombie, he crafts narratives that pull ordinary, flawed souls into the extraordinary, where reality frays, shadows lengthen, and the unknown whispers from the void. He has self-published eight books, with Koen set to come out in 2025 under Grendel Press. Residing in Boston with his wife, he draws inspiration from the region’s haunted past and spectral folklore. Scott invites readers to step beyond the veil and into his worlds, where every tale descends into the deeper, darker truths of the human condition.
