Reducing blogs

I will be cutting back on the daily blogging temporarily. Instead, I will post weekly or biweekly updates. I need to focus on getting the Slaying of the Bull (book 1 of the Tocharian Gospels series) up to snuff and published, and spending an hour (or more) each morning on writing a blog is not the best use of my time. I average about a handful of views per post (if that), and although I much appreciate those that are following my journey, I can better utilize that time doing what I love and writing fiction. Spacing these posts out a bit will also allow me to collect more content. As I’ve mentioned in other posts, my routine is pretty stable at the moment, and there are not a lot of significant developments. This daily minutia makes thinking of new material a bit daunting.

For an update on the Island of Stone, the marketing campaign continues. The ads are posting, but I haven’t seen results in the form of sales. To date, my ad has shown 6,717 times. Out of that, it received 22 clicks and one paperback sale. Ugh. Not the skyrocketing success I was hoping (and also costing me more than I am making). Something about the book is not attracting purchases, and this could be one of four things. One, the cover sucks. Two, the description sucks. Three, my keyword selection sucks. Or four, and the scariest, the book sucks (or at least the sample chapters). I like the cover, and I think it accurately captures the mood of the book. The cabin picture is an almost perfect representation of the image of the cabin in my mind. Today, I rewrote the description, and I think it is much improved. So, we will see if that helps. The keywords are always a work in progress. And lastly, the book reviews are good, so people who have read the Island of Stone seem to like it. So I hope that is not the culprit, but as a writer, you always worry. There is also not much I can do unless people give me feedback on what is not working for them. I think those that have offered me feedback on my work know that I take it quite well, so please submit anything (even if positive) it if you have it (leave a review, comment below, on Facebook, Goodreads, or here)!

Cheers!

Scott Austin Tirrell loves dark speculative fiction, conjuring isolated worlds where ancient mysteries, the raw power of nature, and the paranormal entwine. His work is steeped in the arcane, drawing from the forgotten corners of history and the unsettling grasp of the supernatural. With a style shaped by Clive Barker, Frank Herbert, and Joe Abercrombie, he crafts narratives that pull ordinary, flawed souls into the extraordinary, where reality frays, shadows lengthen, and the unknown whispers from the void. He has self-published eight books, with Koen set to come out in 2025 under Grendel Press. Residing in Boston with his wife, he draws inspiration from the region’s haunted past and spectral folklore. Scott invites readers to step beyond the veil and into his worlds, where every tale descends into the deeper, darker truths of the human condition.
