Just a quick update this week. I continue to write more than I ever have. In my last post, as of October 3 (Thursday), I reached 45,636 words in Destiny of the Daystar (book 4 of my Absolution of the Morning Star series). As of last night (10/12), I reached 87,474! That’s 41,838 words in ten days (or 4,184 a day, four times my normal). If I can continue at this rate, I should finish the first draft in early November, giving me about two months to edit and have the book out in January.
I’m super excited, but I am even more thrilled with how the story is developing—especially with a relatively new character, Princess Margaret the White, Erikson Gray’s cousin. I mentioned her in passing in The Mourning Son and Noonday in the North, but she becomes a point-of-view character in Destiny of the Daystar as another Zulikaarme vying for the crystal throne. Margaret has become a complete joy to write, and I’m excited to introduce her to you because she will be very important in these last three books.
Well, that’s all I have to post today. I’m endeavoring to insulate my basement, and I have a lot of work to do before I can get back to writing. Luckily, it is a dark and dreary day here in Boston, so I’m not missing out on the beautiful fall weather locked in my dank basement, putting up sheets of high-density foam. Wish me luck!
Cheers!
