The empire of Lucardia is splintering, its rulers carving the realm into pieces with greed, betrayal, and blood. Four lives collide in the chaos, each chasing power, survival, or vengeance—but in Lucardia, nothing comes without a price.

Erikson Gray, the exiled prince, carries a sword of whispered promises and dark omens. To claim his birthright, he must forge alliances in the unforgiving Northlands, proving himself to a grandfather who’d rather see him dead than on a throne. But Lightbearer is a blade that takes as much as it gives, and Erik is running out of soul to sacrifice.

Jezelle, thief, and survivor fights to deliver The Lion—a ship laden with treasure—back to Erik and his quest for power. But danger stalks her at every turn: a sorcerer wearing her face has left ruin in her name, and Wendell, a conniving pirate, threatens her mission with schemes of his own. Struggling to keep her companions alive and her wits intact, Jezelle must decide if loyalty to Erik is worth the steep price of survival.

Ivar the Reformer sits on the Crystal Throne, having earned it with a blade between his father’s ribs. He calls it justice; others call it murder. Consolidating power means bending the empire to his will, with help from the Red Cloths, a shadowy faction who whisper promises even darker than Erik’s cursed sword. But power like that doesn’t come cheap, and Ivar’s throne is built on blood-soaked sand.

Margaret, Ivar’s daughter, is cursed in body and spirit, locked away from a world she can only dream of ruling. But when a sorceress offers her freedom, Margaret begins a transformation that could shift the fate of Lucardia—or destroy it entirely. She may have been born a pawn, but she has no intention of staying one.

In Destiny of the Daystar, kingdoms crumble, swords sing, and alliances break faster than bones. From the icy winds of the Northlands to the glittering deceit of court, the battle for Lucardia’s soul is brutal, bloody, and anything but noble. Four destinies intertwine, but only one truth is certain: when the Daystar rises, the shadows will fall.

Log

11/9- Writing begins.

11/26- 9,795 words. I’m working on this as much as possible during the Thanksgiving festivities.

11/27- Surpassed the 10k mark. Things are starting to move now.

1/8- After the distraction of vacation and the holidays, I am back at it! 19,273 words. It is always difficult to get into the flow, but I am there now and have a good idea of where the story will go.

3/13- 21,894- pausing to focus on Thanatos project.

6/20- I started getting ready to start back on this book after reworking Koen to a publishable level and getting close to the end of the Novice of Thanatos – 22,226

9/19- Koen got its book deal, and The Novice of Thanatos is finished. Writing of the Destiny of the Daystar has officially started again!

9/22- 24,716 words. Feels good to get back to Erik’s story.

9/25- 28,295 words. Moving at lightning speed!

10/20—After a weekend of intensive writing, the first draft is finished at 127,081. I wrote this book quicker than any of the others, so I suspect I will add quite a bit in editing, but it should be between 130 and 140k.
