The Slaying of the Bull (Book 1 of the Tocharian Gospels Series) and Island of Stone (Book 1 of the Monuments of Stone Series) are out there. So exciting! Promotional work is ongoing, and things are moving along. Now, it’s time to focus on my next writing project. I have two choices. Go back to the Monuments of Stone Series or continue with the Tocharian Gospels Series. It’s a difficult choice.
My original plan was to continue with The Power of the Heliodromus (Book 2 of the Tocharian Gospels). It’s about 70% written, and the story of Isa is fresh in mind, but I’ve also been working on Isa’s saga for a couple of months now and could use a break. The first book of the series has just been released and hasn’t gained traction yet, so the audience is smaller. It might make sense to give it some time to grow.
The Deserts of Stone (book 2 of the Monuments of Stone series) is only in the planning phase. I know some of the main characters, how it will start, and roughly how it will end, but that’s it. It will be embarking on a new book, and although it’s the continuation of the Monuments of Stone series, the characters and setting are relatively new. It’s been several years since I’ve started a new book, and that’s giving me some butterflies. Hopefully it is like riding a bicycle (it’s also been several years since riding a bicycle so that could be a terrible analogy). But, it is exciting. After re-reading old work and editing for the last four months it will be great to get the creative juices flowing again. Of course, it will be more work and take much longer to get the book out. It’s probably several months compared to perhaps a month or two for the Power of the Heliodromus. Still, more people have read and enjoyed the Island, and it has a broader base of eagerly awaiting readers. The Bull is just taking its baby steps out into the world (unless this should change and it sky-rockets, one can be hopeful). Most importantly, my wife thinks I should continue with the Stone series!
Well, I guess that makes my decision. As it so often happens, it took writing this blog to find my path. Thanks for following my thought process, and if you have any insights or suggestions before I get started, drop me a line below. Don’t forget to follow my journey here, Twitter, Facebook, AllAuthor, and Goodreads. Check out the Island of Stone and the Slaying of the Bull, and don’t forget to leave a review!
Cheers!
