Noonday in the North (book 3 of my Absolution of the Morning Star series) is coming! Today is Amazon’s deadline to submit the manuscript for the scheduled release of the e-book on January 31st. I also just submitted the paperback and hardcover versions, which can take up to 72 hours to work through the vetting process (though they will likely be available before, so keep an eye out this weekend if interested).
I started writing Noonday in the North on February 18th, 2022, so it took just under a year from beginning to end. It’s been a long slog, but it’s finished, and boy, that feels good. Yes, Dawn of the Lightbearer and The Mourning Son took far less time to write, but producing a 500-page book (138,206 words) in a year ain’t bad. Life interrupted a few times along the way, which caused some delays, but I am only a month or two behind schedule, and I’m incredibly proud of the product.
I’m officially halfway there. The Absolution of the Morning Star series will likely be six books. It will be a saga of nearly a million words (currently at 420,000). I already have a rough outline for book 4, Destiny of the Daystar, and a list of ideas, but I want to take a little break from Erik’s story and delve a bit into his father’s. As mentioned here, I have decided to work on Koen next. Exploring the father will help me refine and embellish the son’s journey, as their tales are intimately linked (sample chapter here).
So, where am I now? Editing Noonday in the North has taken much of my time and energy these past two months. I’ve also been working on new marketing material to freshen up that end of the house. That’s all done for now, and I’m happy to report I started working on Koen again last night, and it feels good to get back to writing. Koen’s is a complicated tale. I will try to keep it encapsulated in a single, stand-alone novel, but sometimes the more you dig into a character’s life, the more you find. My goal is only to cover his three-year disappearance and leave it at that, but that is still three years of someone’s life. We’ll see. I am getting ahead of myself- I’m only on chapter 2.
Well, my friends, that’s what’s happening in my life. I hope you check out Noonday in the North and enjoy it as much as I enjoyed writing it. As always, if you like it or any of my books, leave a review! They are the best thing you can do to support indie writers. Lastly, if you haven’t started the adventure, the ebook for Dawn of the Lightbearer will be just $0.99 for a limited time (starting 11 am EST on Sunday, January 29th, 2023).
Cheers!
