I’ve been trying to post something to this blog two times a week to build up some hype for the release of Destiny of the Daystar, book 4 of the Absolution of the Morning Star series (slated for a January release). As you may have seen, I’ve been putting out some dedicated Absolution of the Morning Star content on the religions, magical systems, key families, and profiles of some main characters. I plan to continue this through the next two months. I hope you are enjoying this bonus detail. I struggle not to insert spoilers, but I am doing my best. With six books (or almost 3,000 pages) now set in Lucardia, the world has grown quite detailed, giving me a wealth of content.

Editing for Destiny of the Daystar is moving along. As I suspected, because of the speed of writing the novel, it needs some clean-up, which is why we write first drafts. The story is there, and it just needs polish. I’m halfway through the second read-through. I need to get moving, but luckily, the holidays should give me some extra free time. I plan to make it available for preorder in December.

I am actively querying for The Novice of Thanatos. This time around, I’m taking a slower, more strategic approach, though it remains an uphill battle. Once I finish editing Destiny of the Daystar, my next project will likely be the second book in the Thanatos series (The Monk of Thanatos).

Koen: Quills from the Raven’s Nest is still waiting to be published through Grendel Press in 2025. There has been little movement. They have several books they are trying to push out by the end of the year, which has taken much of their attention. I will be sure to keep you posted.

I’m now on Bluesky (it is getting harder to justify staying on X). If we haven’t connected yet, you can follow me here: @authortirrell.bsky.social.

Well, that’s it for now. My next post will likely be on Wednesday with a character profile for Wendell the One Eye, my favorite character in the series. Take care, and keep your chin up.

Cheers!

Scott Austin Tirrell loves dark speculative fiction, conjuring isolated worlds where ancient mysteries, the raw power of nature, and the paranormal entwine. His work is steeped in the arcane, drawing from the forgotten corners of history and the unsettling grasp of the supernatural. With a style shaped by Clive Barker, Frank Herbert, and Joe Abercrombie, he crafts narratives that pull ordinary, flawed souls into the extraordinary, where reality frays, shadows lengthen, and the unknown whispers from the void. He has self-published eight books, with Koen set to come out in 2025 under Grendel Press. Residing in Boston with his wife, he draws inspiration from the region’s haunted past and spectral folklore. Scott invites readers to step beyond the veil and into his worlds, where every tale descends into the deeper, darker truths of the human condition.

  1. Wow, you’re a machine!

I find it hard to publish one post per week let alone two! As a Technical Writer, I found (and still find) the transition of “telling” instead of “showing” tough and I continuously slip back into tech writing mode. 😉
